ETH Zurich is pleasured to invite you to the 22nd Annual Conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists. The historic main building of Einstein’s Alma Mater is located within walking distance of the city center and Old Town, close to a range of cultural attractions. Zurich, Switzerland’s biggest city, draws its unique charm from its proximity to the Alps, winding alleyways of the Old Town, trendy and vibrant areas, and promenades alongside Limmat River and Lake Zurich.

ETH Zurich offers approximately 26’000 students and researchers excellent infrastructure and attractive working conditions in four locations. It has a long-lasting tradition in education and research, proven by the 21 Nobel laureates who have studied, taught or conducted research here, as well as by its top position in international university rankings.

Zurich is famous for banks and chocolate producers. But it has much more to offer, especially with respect to the natural environment. Zurich is a green city. In 2008, over three quarters of the electorate voted in favor of the 2000-watt society. The goal of a more sustainable lifestyle is now part of the municipal code. All around the traditional city neighborhoods you will find well preserved forests. This is the result of the strict Swiss Forest Act, in force since 1876. It is among the world’s earliest pieces of environmental legislation and has increased the areas of woodland since its introduction.

Detailed information concerning the conference can be found on the official website.

The Local Organizing Committee looks forward to welcom participants to the 22nd EAERE Conference. See you in Zurich!
